Johnstown Castle in Ireland

The castle is situated in a large, mature, ornamental garden, planted sometime in the 1830’s. The castle we see today was constructed for the Grogan-Morgan family sometime in the early 1800’s.

Today, Johnstown Castle is used as a conference center and offices for an agriculture institute. At this time, there are no tours of the castle; one does not get past the reception desk with out an appointment. Despite being unable to tour the castle, we were delightfully surprised by the quality of the castles’ gardens.
