Gardens of Ireland, page 2

Ireland’s Castles and Manor homes all seem to contain spectactular gardens. The considerable wealth and positions of importance, which the owners of these gardens possessed and wanted to illustrate is easily seen, but only if you enter the gardens and interact with the spaces can you experience these gardens’ special goal.

The gardens were also meant to provide enjoyment to all who entered their protective walls.  The gardens were meant for large numbers of people to stroll through the grounds and be entertained in very elaborate ways.  This is still true today. Visitors are no longer the guests of the lord and lady of the castle, however, thousands of visitors come to smell the flowers and see the newest blooms.
